I would guess since this is over the airfield at Miramar and on SOCAL Approaches radar that his airspeed was on approach control’s radar along with his altitude…..I would guess that someone noticed an airspeed substantially above whatever is normal for this type of event, along with a lower altitude sharing that over to the Wing and it went from there……mgb
