Lynd Fitzgerald Mem Folder NAVY

Captain Lynd L. Fitzgerald, U.S. Navy retired, was killed in a car crash during testing in Colorado, Sunday September 10, 2017. He was a Navy helicopter pilot and rotary wing community leader whom many of us remember from the early 1970s NAS Imperial Beach era. Kathy was wonderfully gracious and seemed to enjoy (favorably) recounting many of Lynd’s early squadron colleagues. I captured a few career highlights.

Beginning in the early 1970s, Lynd was assigned to HS-6, and followed that tour as an instructor pilot in HS-10. He later commanded HS-3 (Now HSC-9) at NAS Jacksonville. Shore assignments included Standardization Officer at Helicopter Wing Reserve, U.S. Space Command, and a final tour in Hawaii.

Lynd and Kathy retired to Colorado Springs. In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by two grown children who reside nearby in Colorado, and grandchildren. I understand Fitz’s HS-3 squadron mate, CAPT Steve Fahrenkrog USN-Ret, will memorialize Lynd during a memorial service. Memorial service details are:  Lynd Fitzgerald Mem Folder NAVY
Kathy Fitzgerald’s home address is 430 Royal Oak Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
